I’ve visited Queen B’s a couple of times and, I have to say, I don’t understand the hype this place gets. The coffee is average at best and the baked goods are usually drier than day old bread. Case in point: on my last visit, I had a fruit strudel – sounds lovely, right? It wasn’t. The poor thing was dry and lacking in fruit; if it hadn’t been for my soda-fruit beverage (very good, I might add), I doubt I would’ve been able to down the rest of the strudel. I suppose I should’ve learned from earlier visits: the muffins have never been light and fluffy; rather, they too have been dry.I will, say, though, that the décor is certainly funky – very hippie-ish; much the same can and should be said of the exterior, but that’s not a negative. Instead, it adds to the charm of the place. Plus, as others have rightly pointed out, the view of the harbor is one that cannot be beat.In terms of coffee, though, I’d recommend driving the 10 minutes to Jags Beanstalk. The coffee (and food) are far superior and you also get a wonderful view of Skidegate Inlet.FOOD: 2/5SERVICE: 2.75/5VALUE: 2.75/5RECOMMENDATION: If visiting, check it out for the décor. The food/baked goods on offer are skip-able – and probably should be because the quality is just not there.
